Jon Lester’s fastball has barely decreased from 93.5 mph in 2009 to 92 in 2012. But of what should be of real concern is that in 2009 batters hit .266 off Lester’s fastball and hit .303 in 2012.
Three rookies have earned 40+ saves: Craig Kimbrel (46), Bobby Jenks (41), and Neftali Feliz (40). The Tigers are hoping for that kind of season from Bruce Rondon who had 29 saves last season for three minor league clubs.
